THE RYBOVICH BOOK
Celebrating 103 years of excellence
The story told through the eyes of family...
Only a Rybovich could bring to this project the knowledge and relentless passion the legend deserves. With insider’s perspective, Pat Rybovich—the daughter of designer/builder Tommy Rybovich—spent four intensive years chronicling the yard’s 90-year history in order to capture the spirit and struggle behind her family’s boatworks. The result is a lavish, large-format, limited-edition coffee table book befitting the legend.
The book features thousands of breathtaking photographs, original blueprints, memorabilia, never-before-seen vintage boatbuilding photography unearthed from boatyard archives and from family scrapbooks shared by boatyard workers, captains and crew and classic Rybovich boat-owners. Like a time-capsule tour, many of the Ol’ Salts who worked on the boats during the Rybovich heyday of the 50s and 60s bring the story alive with their rich recollections. With Pat’s in-depth knowledge of the family yard we are given a behind-the-scenes look at the three Rybovich brothers and their complementary—and often conflicting—approaches to boatbuilding.
The book is a unique tribute to the three spirited Rybovich brothers whose can-do innovative spirit helped define the sport. The book delves deep into the history of the 79 boats built by the three brothers, igniting newfound passion the world over for classic Rybovich as a true collector’s item. .
Limited 1st Edition, 1,000 books printed in total.
In the world of boatbuilding, Rybovich is a name synonymous with excellence. In keeping with this unsurpassed tradition, the first-ever Rybovich book is created as an heirloom to treasure.
The book sports the iconic 1947 Rybovich angelfish on the cover. Interestingly, the angelfish design was created by another young Rybovich, Mary -- my dad’s little sister-- when she was a teen. The angelfish was created as a cabinet-door vent for the 1947 Rybo Hull #1—a design still used by Rybovich to this day.
The First Edition Rybovich book is massive (13x15” and almost 20 pounds!) with 608 pages exquisitely bound in deepest glazed marine blue leather. Offered exclusively at the Rybovich book website in a limited-edition of only 900 copies, the tribute is top-flight—Rybovich right—all the way, no expense spared. No one with a passion for Rybovich or the sport of billfishing will want to be without it.
